Hi, I’m Conner, also known as DJ DECON, and like many great ventures, The LoveTap was born from a simple yet profound realization. My deep-seated passion for DJ’ing wasn’t just about mixing tracks; it was about crafting those “best night ever” moments for people. It became crystal clear after witnessing one too many wedding celebrations where the DJ seemed to be just pressing play, lacking the artistry of seamless mixing and crowd engagement, that a change was needed. I knew I had to step in and offer something truly exceptional.
But let’s rewind a bit. You might be wondering, what sets The LoveTap apart from your cousin Charlie who recently acquired some DJ equipment, or those companies that simply assign you whichever DJ is available? The answer lies in a journey fueled by passion and honed by years of experience.
After graduating from SDSU, I channeled my love for music into building my own business. For a decade, I immersed myself in the vibrant nightlife, DJ’ing in nightclubs and at exclusive parties across the globe. This incredible chapter, however, eventually led me to seek a more conventional career path in Finance, aiming for stability while still keeping music close to my heart.
The transition was seamless initially – I secured a fantastic finance job and continued to DJ at events on weekends. Yet, it wasn’t long before I recognized where my extensive DJing background could make the most significant impact. Attending numerous weddings, I was consistently surprised, and frankly, disheartened by the lack of musical artistry. Many DJs weren’t even blending songs together! It felt like a disservice to the craft I had dedicated years to mastering. These were meticulously planned weddings, brimming with anticipation and dreams, but the music often fell short of creating the electric atmosphere everyone envisioned for their special day. I grew weary of watching dance floors thin out prematurely, even after the obligatory classic hits played.
